The story of our winery began in the 1990s when Fruzsina Skrabski’s father, Árpád Skrabski, crafted our very first wines here. But the roots of this land stretch much further back. The Romans were among the first to cultivate vineyards in this area, and winemaking has persevered through centuries—surviving the phylloxera plague and the challenges of communism.
In 1970, Árpád Skrabski and his wife, Mária Kopp—then a professor at Semmelweis University and founder of the Behavioral Research Institute—discovered Les-hegy during a walk. At the time, the area bore only faint traces of its winemaking past, with overgrown vineyards and crumbling press houses. Among them stood an old, neglected cellar slated for demolition. They saw its potential, purchased it, and lovingly restored it, marking the beginning of our winery’s history.

Beside the cellar, they found 2,000 square meters of Welschriesling vines, a small but promising plot that became the foundation of our “Old Capital” parcel. From these grapes, the family began making wine, and by April 2007, the winery took on its current professional form.
Today, we cultivate 12 hectares of organic vineyards, staying true to our commitment to sustainability and quality. In addition to our own grapes, we source from other certified organic vineyards, carefully selecting only the best. With an annual production of around 60,000 bottles, we remain a boutique winery focused on uncompromising quality, rather than expanding into a larger operation.
In 2024, we made a groundbreaking discovery: our wines are safe for histamine-sensitive individuals. Laboratory tests in Germany revealed that our wines contain extraordinarily low levels of histamine—often below measurable limits—making us the first and only low-histamine winery in Hungary.
